Start with the news release Low-cost Bluetooth system boosts headset quality from Broadcom Corp, which we summarised at the time by saying "The Broadcom BCM2044S uses a ROM-based architecture to implement its SmartAudio noise and echo reduction algorithms, enhancing audio quality without adding additional costly components". A few weeks before, we featured the news release Kickstart for ULP Bluetooth device development from Texas Instruments (April 2006-): "TI reckons its ZigBee expertise will be valuable in developing the first Ultra Low Power Bluetooth (previously known as Wibree) devices".
