Start with the news release IC boosts audio possibilities for mobile phones from austriamicrosystems, which we summarised at the time by saying "An on-chip 512Kbyte buffer memory in the AS3532 music player IC allows single-chip support of all key audio formats, both compressed and lossless". Earlier in the week, we featured the news release Codec/power combo targets next-generation mobiles from Wolfson Microelectronics: "Multimedia codec with integrated power management features delivers high performance audio and mixing capability, longer battery life and reduced system cost".
