‘Sercos’
A Electronicstalk guide
Start with the news release
Low-cost FPGAs host industrial Ethernet standards from
Altera Europe, which we summarised at the time by saying "IP cores for ProfiNet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus-IDA, EtherCAT, Sercos III Interface and Ethernet Powerlink can now be implemented on low-cost Cyclone series FPGAs.".
Several months prior to that,
we featured the news release IP core simplifies Sercos III integration from
Sercos North America: "A free IP core for low-cost FPGA chips allows Sercos III to be integrated into basic I/O slave devices with minimal development and integration effort.".
In April 2007, we covered the news from Xilinx
- take a look at Sercos III Ethernet chip buillt on FPGAs
which says: "Spartan-3 FPGA-enabled Sercos III system provides a low-cost flexible alternative for industrial networking applications.".
Take a look also at the news release from Avago Technologies, Optical transceivers meet industrial demands,
as well as Transceiver upgrades speed for fieldbus comms from Avago Technologies,
and Transmitter and receiver enable speedy SERCOS from Agilent Technologies.
