Abacus Polar has been named Distributor of the Year for UK and Ireland by Microsoft Embedded Systems Group, Abacus' only operating system franchise.

Craig Langley, Microsoft Embedded Business Manager at Abacus Polar, received the award from Doug Follett, Business Manager for Microsoft Embedded Systems Group.

Microsoft's Follett said: "In making this award, Microsoft measured design activity, sales growth, strategies employed and relationships enjoyed with semiconductor vendors, system integrators and single board computer vendors.

Abacus Polar has been exceptionally successful in developing new opportunities for Microsoft's range of embedded operating systems, including Windows CE, building a very sound business base for us in the UK".

Craig Langley has led the embedded systems business unit at Abacus Polar since the company inked its distribution agreement with Microsoft in 1999.

Receiving the award, he said, "We have seen growing interest from amongst the UK customer base in Microsoft's embedded software solutions.

Synergy with our processor franchises, and the recent acquisition of LCD specialist Trident, has helped significantly in developing our relationships with customers".

He added, "We are seeing particular interest from customers in the upcoming release of Windows XP Embedded and Windows CE.NET".
