Abacus Polar has a full integrated development environment for the new CE.NET 4.2 operating system A series of seminars bringing developers up to speed with the new release is being held this Autumn

Designed specifically for building customised embedded platforms for small-footprint devices based on Windows CE.NET, Microsoft's Platform Builder features an emulator, complete set of resource editors and compilers, a kernel debugger and add-in CPU configuration support.

Windows CE.NET 4.2 facilitates the roll-out of smart, connected and small footprint devices, and to facilitate this Platform Builder features a platform wizard.

This allows developers to pre-configure the operating system for their device requirements.

Platform configurations for 12 popular device categories are included as a starting point, covering gateways, industrial controllers, set-top boxes, tiny kernels and Internet appliances and other applications.

A catalogue feature displays a list of optional operating system features that can be used to customise a platform.

Platform Builder emulation technology allows platforms and applications to tested on a development workstation without the need to invest in hardware emulation.

A kernel debugger, test kit, application debugger, dependency checker and an export SDK wizard enabe the user to export a custom software development kit (SDK).

Windows CE.NET offers an advanced real-time operating system solution for four major 32 and 64bit processors: ARM, MIPS, SuperH and x86.

Abacus Polar franchises hold licenses for all four, and the company is to hold a series of customer seminars around the new CE.NET4.2 operating system in the autumn.
