Innovative design minimises the risk of false trips due to high inrush currents and line transients.
Made with an iron powder based core material, this novel surface mount construction replaces the traditional toroidal construction based on ring-cores made with iron powder, "Sendust" or even Molypermalloy.
The granular nature of the core provides a "distributed" air-gap in the magnetic circuit, producing a much more gradual saturation effect.
They are ideal for variable output currents and high peaks.
With a low profile of just 5mm, designers can reduce the overall height requirements of PCB boards, allowing design of smaller, slimmer electronic devices with enhanced electrical performance, and saving significant space for applications including notebook/desktop/server designs, high current point of load convertors, low profile, high current power supplies, battery-powered devices, and DC/DC convertors for distributed power systems or FPGAs.
There are models from 0.1 to 10uH, with typical ohmic resistance values ranging from 0.53 to 21.4mohm, depending on inductance, and saturation currents up to 118A.
Operating at frequencies up to 5MHz, the inductors operate over a wide temperature -55 to +125C range, enabling them to stay within specified tolerances even at maximum current and +85C initial ambient conditions.
The 100% lead (Pb)-free, shielded composite not only reduces buzz noise significantly but also provides abundant resistance to shock and vibration.
Samples and production quantities are available now from Abacus Polar.
