Abacus Group has opened a GBP 1.3 million expansion to its offices in Newbury, giving it a fully equipped auditorium for customer seminars, and an improved working environment for the 105 staff based there The expansion is based on the re-use of the former 1000m2 warehouse area in Bone Lane as office and meeting space, following the centralisation of the group's five UK warehouse facilities into one facility at Newcastle-under-Lyme

The investment has allowed the total area of office space to be increased to1500m2, including a 100-seater auditorium fully equipped with audiovisual systems to the current standard, plus smaller seminar and meeting rooms.

Trident Microsystems, the Abacus Group display specialist, was supplier of the advanced displays used in the refit.

Staff based at Abacus Group's headquarters benefit from a completely renewed working environment, with wheelchair access throughout, an excellent relaxation area, and an informal meeting area.

Commenting, Group CEO Martin Kent said: "We believe strongly in investing in our relationships with customers and staff, at all stages of the economic cycle.

Seminars and training are key in a fast-moving industry like ours, allowing new developments and technologies to be communicated effectively to customers and staff.

The ability to hold these easily and cost-effectively in-house is just one of the benefits we see coming from this investment".
