light
A new technology brings optimised backlighting to full travel keyboards.
Advanced Input Devices has developed a new technology that brings optimised backlighting to full travel keyboards, and enables Advanced Input to extend its specialist input system development service to a wider range of quality-conscious low-light applications, and to meet requirements for visual feedback to be incorporated into the keyboard Laser marking not only enables marking in any graphic or language, but also permits last-minute customising of each system for different markets

Full travel keyboards offer superior "feel" to membrane, rubber and alternative technologies.
However, illuminated full travel keyboards have traditionally suffered from uneven illumination and excessive power dissipation.
The new capability from Advanced Input combines low power with even illumination, making it ideal for custom requirements in professional applications such as medical instruments and studio equipment.
The new backlit full travel key assembly uses in-house expertise in moulding and plastics technology to dramatically reduce the number of LEDs needed to provide full and even illumination of large keyboards, such as qwerty types.
Each key combines a support structure, switch and base with a special translucent keytop, enabling illumination to be provided for each key, while ensuring the uniform distribution of light for maximum clarity.
Illumination, keytop and marking are available in a range of colours to suit each application, backed by a full development and logistics service to deliver complete custom user input systems.
This Advanced Input customisation service now includes one of the industry's widest ranges of low, mid and full travel key technologies, together with conventional and proprietary rotary and touch-screen capabilities, custom consoles, and interface electronics, backed by responsive prototyping and volume capacity.
