The AR-M9939 is a low-power embedded x86 hardware platform for firewall, VPN and security gateway applications.

New from Acrosser Technology is the AR-M9939, a low-power embedded x86 hardware platform for firewall, VPN and security gateway applications The micro box comes equipped with three LAN ports, and targets the medium-size-enterprise network security market

Its hardware features support embedded software providers, networking software developers and system integrators in developing Internet firewall/VPN solutions The AR-M9939 is a low power Pentium III grade network hardware platform with choice of 733 or 400MHz CPUs.

The system uses the Broadcom LAN chipset, which offers a choice of 10/100Mbit/s or 1Gbit/s on each LAN port.

The hardware itself contains bypass, console redirection and Wi-Fi functions.

The 733MHz model also supports hardware security encryption, such as Hardware Random Number Generator (RNG) or Advanced Cryptography Engine (ACE).

Such hardware encryption functions provide performance improvements over software encryption in firewall/VPN applications.
