Memory test system more than doubles its speed
The Advantest T5375 memory test system is capable of testing up to 128 devices simultaneously at speeds of either 143 or 286MHz DDR.
According to the 2004 results released earlier today naming the winners of this year's test and material handling equipment category, Advantest ranked sixth - up one position from last year.
The test and material handling equipment category is one of seven competitive segments covered in this extensive, independent customer satisfaction survey conducted each year.
"In addition to achieving the distinction of inclusion in the 10 best for 16 years in a row, Advantest moved up a notch this year, further illustrating their strong commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction", said G Dan Hutcheson, CEO and President of VLSI Research.

"This is especially impressive in light of Advantest's dramatic growth last year".
The company reported that 2003 revenues jumped more than 102% over 2002 revenues due to increased demand levels and market share gains in all of their served markets.
This is supported by the fact that Advantest jumped six positions to rank seventh in VLSI Research's list of the top ten semiconductor equipment suppliers as ranked by sales in 2003 (released 4th March 2004).
VLSI Research reports that surveyed customers for this year's 10 best said quality of results was the strongest attribute for all 10 best equipment suppliers.
Specific areas in which Advantest customers expressed the greatest degree of satisfaction included system uptime, quality of results, usable throughput and product performance.
Josef Schraetzenstaller, Managing Director of Advantest (Europe), stated: "As Advantest celebrates its 50th anniversary, our ongoing commitment to providing our global customers with top-notch products and services continues to be of utmost importance".
"In addition to ensuring that we supply customers with highly reliable test solutions that meet or exceed their roadmap requirements, we are equally focused on helping them achieve their productivity and cost-of-ownership goals".
"Basically it all comes down to doing everything possible to afford them the peace of mind they've come to expect from Advantest".
"We are pleased and honoured, once again, to have this commitment recognized by our customers around the world".
VLSI Research has performed its annual survey of customers' satisfaction with their chip equipment suppliers since the 1980s.
In compiling data for the 10 best surveys, the firm sends more than 41,000 questionnaires to semiconductor companies around the world.
Users of semiconductor capital equipment are asked to rate their suppliers in categories that exemplify a supplier's relationship with its customers.
In all, there are 13 categories, comprised of seven measures of equipment performance - cost of ownership, product performance, uptime, software, build quality, usable throughput and quality of results - and six measures of customer service - process support, field engineering support, spares support, technical leadership, support after sales, and the vendor's overall commitment to supporting its customers' needs.
This year, the survey was translated into six languages and was sent worldwide to North America, Europe, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and other Asian countries, with responding companies representing 96% of worldwide chip production in 2003.
