As a result, Addlink allows designers to rapidly bring wireless capability to their application.
Housed in a surface mount device (SMD) package, the first iteration of the module to be launched measures just 21 x 38 x 7mm, and contains an 868MHz transceiver, an 8bit microcontroller and an integrated antenna.
With datarates up to 10Kbit/s and a line of sight range of 300m, Addlink is ideal for use in applications such as handheld computers, remote meter reading and household and building automation.
The ability to operate in several different modes that include transparent mode, verified transparent mode, addressed secured mode, I/O copy mode, standby mode and RTS/ CTS, gives Addlink a high degree of flexibility.
Other key specification features include a 38k4 maximum baud rate, integrated digital I/Os and an optional ADC and DAC.
The built-in microcontroller offers 8Kbyte of Flash memory, 1Kbyte of RAM, as well as an internal 512byte EEPROM that eliminates the need for external data storage.
The availability of a software development kit enables designers to embed their own custom code within Addlink to meet the needs of their specific application without having to introduce additional external components.
Adcon's Addlink module requires a 3 to 5V power supply and has very low power consumption down to just 20uA in standby mode.
Operating temperature range is -10 to +95C.
