IC packaging partnership proves a success
IC packaging leader Advanced Semiconductor Engineering has announced its commitment to Ansoft's HFSS, Q3D Extractor and AnsoftLinks simulation products for IC packaging design and model extraction.
CXInsight for Electronics is a robust, product-oriented content management and e-collaboration toolset for use in electronics design, new product introduction and production environments that require the management of structured and unstructured content.
It is a flexible web-based server/client system that operates independent of OS or application software, and is developed specifically for OEMs and manufacturers working together on projects, regardless of geographic location, language or time zone.
As OEMs continue to subcontract out more design work, and as fabricators and assemblers become more involved upstream in the definition and design stages, the control of product realisation and project management and the issues of engineering change management, revision control, task management and full traceability present uphill challenges to design and production teams, local and distributed.

DSP algorithms run on Pentium-based PCs
Adaptive Digital Technologies' DSP algorithms are now available on Pentium-based PCs running either Linux or Windows.
CXInsight is a tool for the management and support of distributed development and NPI across global supply chains via secures (SSL) Internet communication.
Now available, for the first time in one single toolset, CXInsight functionality handles four key areas: dynamic development product data management system (PDM Light); product oriented, single point of data access for internal/external project members; graphical product and project file browser; and full project flow control and event logging/tracking system (development and engineering).
Commenting on the new product announcement, Jan Keijzer, Managing Director at Adeon, said: "Lifecycle management is a key issue in many industry sectors, including medical, pharmaceutical, communications, avionics and aerospace".
"CXInsight enables designers and manufacturers to communicate across the web and work concurrently on managing change to project content - safely, easily and in a totally secure environment".
"The system logs also all structured and unstructured data events and stores it within the project/product data".
"Once the project is frozen and ready for production, the product data can be integrated into the customer's formal enterprise-wide PDM system, automatically".
"In bringing this product to market we partnered with CodeMatrix, specialists in project management systems for software development, combining our many years experience in the electronics market with their development expertise".
"We also worked with several global electronics companies to ensure that the software was fully proven in the production environment and that we delivered the exact level of functionality required", Keijzer added.
Specifically developed for the electronics industry, CXInsight gives users just the functionality that they need, compared with costly, feature-heavy PDM systems that can be too formal and cumbersome, particularly in the dynamic development and NPI phase.
Positioned as a PDM-light application, CXInsight views and controls the complete project flow from project management, task and workload management, through to ECO modification processes, full traceability and event logging.
This allows design and production teams to collaborate at all stages of the process and makes fast and easy work of managing concurrent changes from the individual's desktop.
CXInsight has full client-to-server and server-to-server security with flexible security models that can be set by the administrator/project manager, determining project access rights.
With server-to-server connectivity, it is possible for CXInsight server owners to simply connect to other CXI servers and work with their own fixed clients on all linked servers across different projects and through the different firewalls.
CXInsight operates on a client/server basis whereby a customer can purchase a server license and a number of client licenses enabling connection with other parties and suppliers in the design through manufacturing chain.
Pricing starts at Eur 7500 for a package comprising one server licence and five client licences (minimum configuration).
CXInsight provides multilanguage support and is OS independent, operating under Windows, Linux, Solaris and MacOS.
CXInsight release 1.0 is available now, through Adeon's established distributor network across Europe and the USA.
