CompactPCI processor leads with dual-board design
The cPCI-3840 is the first in a range of 3U CompactPCI Pentium M processor boards from Adlink Technology.
The cPCI-3840 is the first in a range of 3U CompactPCI Pentium M processor boards from Adlink Technology.
The board uses the latest Intel 855GME and 6300ESB embedded chipset and comes with up to 2Gbyte of DDR 333 memory with optional ECC.
The cPCI-3840 delivers excellent processing performance with higher communication bandwidth than previously offered, while consuming less power.
These features make the product ideally suited for markets such as industrial automation and control systems.
The cPCI-3840's design complies with Intel's EID roadmap, ensuring a long product life cycle.
The cPCI-3840's unique architecture allows for maximum flexibility and fast time to market for OEM applications.
The product is constructed by assembling two PCBs, a CPU board core module and a carrier board, via a proprietary board-to-board connection.
The CPU board consists of the CPU, the 855GME and the two DDR SODIMM sockets.
The carrier board provides the remaining I/O features.
This architecture allows for the CPU module to be re-used with unique carriers providing different I/O features for OEM applications.
The cPCI-3840 offers maximum versatility by supporting a wide range of CPUs, including: the low voltage Pentium M at 1.1, 1.6 or 1.7GHz with 1Mbyte L2 cache; and Pentium M 755 (2.0GHz) or 745 (1.8GHz) with 2Mbyte L2 cache.
The cPCI-3840 is also available with a BGA-packaged ultra-low-voltage Celeron M 600MHz CPU for the OEM.
By implementing the Intel 855GME, the cPCI-3840 provides for multiple memory options with support for both ECC and non-ECC memory.
Multiple storage device options are provided for within the two-slot wide chassis.
The cPCI-3840's mechanical design accommodates a 2.5in drive with either IDE or Serial ATA interface, and an onboard CF socket for CompactFlash type II storage media.
The high performance PCI-X bus is used to communicate between the onboard Intel 82546EB dual Gigabit Ethernet controller and the 6300ESB I/O controller, allowing for true Gigabit Ethernet performance.
The 6300ESB also integrates a 32bit/33MHz CompactPCI bus, four USB 2.0 ports, two COM ports, IDE interface and a two-stage watchdog timer.
A second Gigabit Ethernet port, second COM port, and two additional USB 2.0 ports and DVI for high quality digital display are accessible from the rear transition module.
The cPCI-3840 is available from stock with a two-year warranty and 30-day money back guarantee, priced at US $1999 with OEM volume discounts.
