It accepts standard composite colour (Pal, NTSC) or monochrome video formats (CCIR, EIA) camera input.

Image bit-rate and frame rate are adjustable to fit variable bandwidths such as remote internet applications.

GOP structures I, IP, IBP, and IBBP are programmable for video quality enhancement.

The PCI-MPEG24 can also save video to the AVI video file format for playback in Windows Media Player or other compatible player.

Each PCI-MPG24 card has a unique hardware ID number.

System integrators can design protections to lock their system product.

System integrators will benefit from a watchdog timer for fault-tolerant applications and from easy-to-use standard connectors.

A DirectX driver is provided for Windows 2000/XP.

Sample programs are also provided for Visual Studio.NET, VC++ and C++ Builder languages, as well as Linux.
