In keeping with its tradition of providing high-performance low-cost products, Advanced Microcomputer Systems has updated its digital signal processing single board computer.

In keeping with its tradition of providing high-performance low-cost products, Advanced Microcomputer Systems has updated its digital signal processing single board computer The DSP board is based on a Texas Instruments TMS320C5X DSP chip

The board boasts a monitor EPROM, RAM, serial interface to PC, analogue input, analogue output, built-in PSU and I/O connector for expansion.

It also comes with easy-to-use EZ-DSP Manager software, allowing the user to edit, assemble and debug codes on a PC.

AMS has taken advantage of major breakthrough in low-cost digital hardware to produce a high performance DSP system.

This system forms the core of various application developments.

The examples of such applications are high-speed communication, speech recognition, image capture and fuzzy logic to name a few.

These are in addition to existing applications of DSP in telecommunications, multimedia systems, process control, biomedicine and consumer electronics.

"Thus, it can be seen that the AMS DSP subsystem is one of the most useful tools in the hands of designing engineers for rapid development of applications in a field where applications are increasing at an exponential rate", says AMS President Raj Shah.

He continues: "The industry wanted a general purpose DSP subsystem that fills the gap at the current development level and reduces final product development cycle time.

The time saved leads the developer in early realisation of their research and development efforts as well as results in faster returns on investment.

In other words, use of the AMS DSP subsystem provides an avenue for optimum economic progress", claims Shah.
