A new family of PWM controllers features integrated EMI reduction technology for low noise switched mode power supply convertor and inverter applications.

Alliance Semiconductor Corp has a new family of pulsewidth modulator (PWM) controllers with integrated electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction technology for low noise switched mode power supply (SMPS) convertor and inverter applications.

System power supply designers are confronted with extremely challenging design parameters in dealing with power consumption, physical space limitations, and EMI reduction issues to meet the required regulatory standards (like FCC, CSA, CSIPR etc).

This family of PWM controllers is designed to replace the extremely popular series of 184X/384X PWM controllers in a wide range of switched mode power supply applications, but with the unique additional advantage of a built-in EMI reduction engine.

This additional EMI reduction capability has been achieved by implementing Alliance Semiconductor's proprietary spread spectrum modulation technology.

Alliance Semiconductor expects to continue the product expansion as the line continues its evolution into even higher performance product offerings that address new SMPS markets demanding effective, inherent EMI reduction capability.

These PWM controllers support both offline inverter and DC/DC convertor designs.

Available in both 8-pin SOIC and DIP packages, Alliance Semiconductor offers commercial and industrial temperature grades, with standard tin-lead/RoHS and/or green compliant products.

This new product introduction marks Alliance Semiconductor's launch into the power semiconductor market, and provides the industry with a significant player with tried and true value added EMI reduction technology in support of this high growth market.

This current offering supports all aspects of the switched mode power supply market: AC/DC, DC/DC and also certain DC/AC inverter applications.

Samples are available today, with initial pricing set at $2.00 in 1000-unit quantities.
