Comair Rotron fans and blowers can now be protected to meet an environmental integrity up to IP65 as well as relevant NEMA, Belcore and UL requirements.

Comair Rotron fans and blowers, available in the UK from Aerco, can now be protected to meet an environmental integrity up to IP65 as well as relevant NEMA, Belcore and UL requirements.

This means the entire Comair Rotron range can be used in installations where there are airborne contaminants or condensing water vapour.

The Enviro-shield protection is available across all fan sizes from 60mm up to 255mm in diameter and all voltages.

Not only is the fan interior protected from the ingress of dust and moisture, the Enviro-shield protection also increases the fan's resistance to adverse shock or vibration.

Three levels of environmental protection are offered.

With Type 1 a thin silicone coating is sprayed over the complete motor assembly while Type 2 involves a similar application over the motor winding and lamination stack plus a thicker silicone coating to the motor assembly and then the circuit board is dipped into a heavier grade of silicone.

The highest grade of protection is Type 3 where the complete motor assembly and circuit board is placed into a mould into which the heavy grade silicone is poured and then vibrated to release any air bubbles that may be trapped thus providing a completely encapsulated assembly.

There is a small cost penalty to provide this protection but this is soon offset by cost reductions due to improved product life and reduction in repair bills.
