Aerco is now supplying a range of overmoulded cable assemblies from FCT Electronic that can be supplied in very small batch sizes from as few as 100 pieces, at prices normally only associated with much larger production runs The overmoulding technique employed makes use of high quality, high performance moulding materials coupled with an economic and highly flexible process method that involves three stages

The first is an encapsulation of the terminations, then an optional EMC foil screen can be applied giving a high degree of EMC shielding and finally the over-moulding is completed using a thermoplastic elastomer compound (TPE).

TPE has properties similar to rubber but with the advantage that thermoplastic processing techniques can be used.

It is a recyclable material, is flame retardant to UL94V0 and has excellent resistance to chemicals, UV, ozone and weather and operates over a wide temperature range.

Standard connector types available include D-type subminiature in 9-, 15- and 25-way shell sizes and RJ45 8-way screened and unscreened connectors.

Other connector types, PCBs and electronic components can be supplied on request.

Standard colours are black, grey and white and other colours can be supplied.

Waterproof connector assemblies meeting IP67 can also be offered.
