Relay switches, protects and monitors
A new cubic smart power protection relay provides a powerful alternative to electromechanical DC relays and fuses.
New from Aerco is a cubic version of the SPPR (smart power protection relay) from E-T-A that provides switching, protection and monitoring in a single device for all 12 and 24V supplies and is a powerful alternative to electromechanical DC relays and fuses The SPPR Type E-1048-8C is a 7-pin cubic relay with a similar specification to the inline version announced earlier this year but is designed for applications such as automotive power relay sockets where the system architecture is more suited to the cubic shape

Punch down and earth strap for connector
The RJ-LnxxT IP67 rated, sealed, industrial RJ-45 connectors, available in the UK from Aerco, are now available with IDC punch down and earth strap terminations.
Measuring 30 x 30 x 40mm, excluding terminals, and requiring a control current of less than 10mA with an off-load current consumption of less than 1mA, the E-1048-8C is ideal for battery-buffered onboard electrical systems providing essential information such as LED and status outputs for control or group fault signals in the event of overcurrent or wire breakage in the load circuit.
A full-feature version also provides a 0-5V analogue output proportional to the load current that can be easily incorporated into the power management of the overall system.
