Software to improve back-end processes
An engineering company is expanding its use of manufacturing information management software to broaden the deployment of technology around the company.
Aegis Industrial Software, a specialist in manufacturing information management systems, has been selected by Silicon Forest Electronics to expedite and improve product-launch and shop-floor execution.
Silicon Forest has built its reputation for fast and reliable customer response to product launch and engineering changes using Aegis' new-product-introduction (NPI) systems for several years.
The decision to expand from Aegis' NPI into its full manufacturing execution system (MES) application will greatly increase its ability to meet and exceed the stringent shop-floor information management demands of its clients, particularly in the defence market.
"Aegis is a proven product we have used to satisfy our customer's demand for responsiveness and reliability for years", commented Peter Wong, Silicon Forest's Vice President of Technology.
"Extending our solution to include shop-floor functions offers our clients greater speed of service, process control and information visibility".
"Deployment of the paperless features alone proved to save 400 man-hours monthly".
"The product tracking and quality functions now enable world-class data fulfillment capabilities to our customers".
Silicon Forest is building on the value of having based its manufacturing information backbone in Aegis' hands by expanding seamlessly from process planning into manufacturing execution.
Partnering with Aegis means its existing NPI systems use the same information platform as its MES system and do not require a migration process to move into a greater enterprise system.
With the new extended Aegis system, Silicon Forest now enjoys an automated and high-velocity path from customer data, process planning, and document generation, through paperless dispatching, product tracking and quality, and repair automation.
"As a long-standing NPI customer, Silicon Forest's migration into the larger Aegis MES offering is something we greatly appreciate", says Jason Spera, Aegis CEO.
"Our system-level product was envisioned and designed by Aegis to enable customers a path upwards in capability without loss of data or investment".
"We look forward to help further distinguish Silicon Forest as a leader in the markets they service".
