Antenova has signed its first major supply agreement with IPWireless, the mobile broadband market leader, based in San Bruno, California.

Antenova has signed its first major supply agreement with IPWireless, the mobile broadband market leader, based in San Bruno, California The supply contract is for an internal, surface-mount antenna for use in IPWireless' latest modem designs

IPWireless' modems operate over a number of frequencies, depending on the target market, including 1.9, 2.5-2.7 and 2.0GHz variants.

Antenova's solution has the advantage of covering all these frequencies in one antenna.

Antenova's High Dielectric Antenna (HDA) technology offers IPWireless a low-cost, robust, unobtrusive design that improves reliability and is easy to manufacturer.

The supply agreement will be for thousands of antennas per week and will start immediately.

Antenova's solution eases manufacture of the modem: the antennas are surface mount and are placed straight onto the PCBs - integrated seamlessly into the manufacturing process and avoiding the unreliability of hand-assembled or externally mounted antennas.

"We are always interested in leading-edge technology to enhance our products and we were delighted when the Antenova solution exceeded our expectations", says Roger Nichol, Technical Director of IPWireless.

"We are very excited that IPWireless will be the first off-the-shelf product to have an Antenova antenna inside.

We look forward to being part of what will make this modem a world-class leader", says Greg McCray, CEO of Antenova.

IPWireless offers mobile broadband, an extremely disruptive technology that is on track to change the way people around the world communicate, access the Internet and use a host of new applications at home, at the office, or on the road.

The technology has been developed over a four-year period by a UK-based team of over 100 world-class engineers.

Antenova's technology liberates wireless developers from the problems and restrictions associated with conventional antennas.

New design freedoms opened up by the company's unique High Dielectric Antenna (HDA) amount to a revolutionary force for wireless terminal designers.

Among its capabilities are fine control over directionality, extremely small size with virtual immunity to detuning - allowing multiple antennas to be integrated onto PCBs - narrow or broadband configuration, lower power requirements and much higher efficiencies.
