Interoperability to be demonstrated in
Anaheim
Aeluros will be showcase its integrated 10G PHY/serdes/EDC devices at the upcoming OFC/NFOEC exposition in Anaheim, California.
Aeluros will be showcase its integrated 10G PHY/serdes/EDC (electronic dispersion compensation) devices for limiting and linear SFP+ applications through interoperability demonstrations with SFP+ modules from Avago, ExceLight, Finisar and Picolight at the upcoming OFC/NFOEC exposition in Anaheim, California (27th to 29th March 2007) Interoperability testing for the EDC devices has focused on 10G Ethernet traffic testing, overload testing and a comprehensive stressed receiver sensitivity test

Flash addition to embedded offerings
Abacus Polar has added M-Systems, the pioneer of Flash disk on a die technology, to its portfolio of embedded computing solutions.
The test set-up included various lengths of printed circuit board between the module and the 10G PHY, and industry-standard test platforms for verifying link integrity through the optical stress pulses as defined in the IEEE802.3aq standard.
"We are happy to announce this interoperability demonstration between our low power EDC/serdes devices and SFP+ modules from various vendors", said Stefanos Sidiropoulos, CEO of Aeluros.
"This type of intensive interoperability testing is not only critical towards providing inputs for finalising the SFP+ MSA specification, but also verifies that our EDC engine is compatible with the current generation of key linear SFP+ modules available today".

Aeluros will demonstrate the performance of its EDC technology on Booth 2877 at OFC/NFOEC.
Besides the standard stress test pulse performance, the company will also showcase the dynamic stress-test performance and the effect of overload on the EDC performance.
Other demonstrations will be held on the booths of Avago Technology (2741) and Picolight (2270).

"Our innovative approach utilising 1310nm VCSEL-based SFP+ modules along with Aeluros's EDC/PHY technology provide the systems' customers with yet another potential solution for high-density, low power optical interfaces".
Aeluros will also demonstrate a dense 24-port reference design for a 10GbE switch system with an SFP+ front end and a 24-port switch chip.
This system will showcase the compact front-end designs made possible by SFP+ module form factors, Aeluros's small device footprint and the overall low power consumption of the combination.
The typical combined power dissipation for the SFP+ module and Aeluros's EDC/serdes PHY device is significantly less than a comparable XFP-based solution for similar functionality (optics to XAUI) - which is in the 3.3W range, and meaningfully less that comparable 10GBase-T solutions (serial to XAUI) - which are in the 8-10W range today.
