Samsung award completes hat-trick for
Agere

Samsung Electronics has given Agere Systems its 2005 "Most Valued Partner Award".

Agere Systems has been selected by Samsung Electronics as the recipient of the 2005 "Most Valued Partner Award" presented during Samsung's recent Telecom Partners' Day The award, one of the most prestigious and coveted honors that can be bestowed on Samsung's business partners, was also won by Agere Systems in 2003 and 2004

Samsung Electronics chose its best suppliers based on a range of criteria such as product development, customer support, speed, innovation and cost.

Agere proudly outperformed a number of its competitors to win this title for the third consecutive year.

"Agere has consistently distinguished itself as a company providing not only great chip solutions, but also the system-level understanding and close collaboration required to bring the best possible products to market", said Ki Tae Lee, President and CEO Telecommunication Network Business, Samsung Electronics.

"Agere has demonstrated a clear commitment to helping Samsung build on our success as a leader in mobile phone quality and innovation".

According to market research firm IDC, Samsung recorded 26.8 million units of handset sales in the third quarter of 2005 and is currently the third largest handset supplier in the world.

For the last three years, Agere has served as the phone maker's primary GPRS and Edge solution provider.

Samsung uses Agere chipsets and software in high-performance, full-featured GPRS and Edge mobile phones.
