Agere Systems will take part in the Idema symposium on "Perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR): the innovation is a product reality" on Thursday 7th December 2006 in Santa Clara, California Jeff Janukowicz, a Strategic Marketing Manager in Agere's Storage Division, will lead a symposium session focused on the technology behind PMR, and Dan Dolan Jr, Senior Product Marketing Manager with Agere, will discuss how a systems approach to designing chips can overcome the performance and cost challenges posed by hard disk drives using PMR technology

PMR technology is increasing dramatically the areal density of today's hard disk drives, thereby boosting the data storage capacity of a wide range of electronic devices.
