Hot-pluggable transceiver for Fibre Channel
Agilent Technologies has announced volume availability of its 2Gbit/s small-form-pluggable (SFP) fibre-optic transceiver for Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs).
Its extremely compact package size of 2 x 2mm reduces board space.
Providing up to +20dBm of saturated output power at 0dBm input power and typical 67mA saturated current draw, with the industry's highest (minimum 42dB) reverse isolation (at 2GHz) makes the Agilent MGA-565P8 capable of directly driving the level 17 (+17dBm LO drive level) high-dynamic range mixers used in most current basestation designs.
Agilent' E-pHEMT buffer amplifier also features a "smart bias" function, which allows the output power to be adjusted from the maximum +21dBm to as low as +9dBm by changing a single external resistor.
This also makes it suitable to be used as an LO buffer amplifier to drive low cost level 7 mixers that require a minimum +7dBm LO drive.
The Agilent MGA-565P8 provides 22dB small signal gain, +19dBm linear output power (at 1dB gain compression), with typical current consumption of 37mA at 5V DC in linear mode.
The device is specified for operation at frequencies from 100MHz to 3.5GHz, and is suitable for 3 to 5V operation.
The Agilent E-pHEMT buffer amplifier is housed in the compact 2.0 x 2.0 x 0.75mm 8-pad industry-standard leadless plastic chip carrier package.
The package's lead-free backside metallisation provides excellent thermal dissipation as well as visual evidence of solder reflow.
Agilent remains the industry's only supplier of single-voltage E-pHEMT devices.
The Agilent MGA-565P8 is available through Agilent's direct sales channel. Request a free brochure from Avago Technologies ...
