Protocol stack sets up IrDA communications

New protocol stack software provides a fast and cost-effective solution for designers embedding IrDA-compatible wireless communications in products ranging from new mobile phones, PDAs, office equipment and digital cameras to medical and industrial automation equipment.

The Agilent HSDL-S100 IrDA protocol stack provides everything necessary to manage data transfer, based on the IrDA standard, at rates up to 4Mbit/s, and will operate on any platform that supports the ANSI C programming language.

The Agilent IrDA protocol stack includes object exchange (OBEX) and infra-red for mobile communications (IrMC) modules, which facilitate wireless file exchange and data synchronisation.

These modules provide a high-level application protocol interface (API) to standard applications, which enables users to exchange and synchronise data between wireless devices.

The stack is complete with IrLAP (infra-red link access protocol), LM-MUX (link management multiplexer), IrLMP-IAS (IrDA link management protocol information-access services) and Tiny TP (tiny transport protocol), and is primary and secondary channel datalink compatible.

Optional addons include IrComm serial and parallel port emulation, IrOBEX (IrDA object exchange protocol) and the Ir-TranP system for the transfer of digital still images.
