Agilent Technologies has developed an AC/DC-to-logic interface optocoupler in a space-saving package.

Agilent Technologies has released an AC/DC-to-logic interface optocoupler in a space-saving package.

The device is a new version of Agilent's industry-standard HCPL-3700 voltage/current-sensing optocoupler.

Agilent is the first company to deliver this optocoupler in a compact SO-8 (small outline) surface-mount package.

The Agilent HCPL-0370 measures only 5.08 x 3.94 x 3.18mm, providing substantially higher density on printed circuit board designs for industrial datacomms and telecomms applications.

The Agilent HCPL-0370 is a voltage/current threshold-detection optocoupler used in applications ranging from sensing voltages over the 5 to 240V range, to microprocessor interfaces for data acquisition, automation and industrial process control.

These capabilities are used for limit switch sensing, low-voltage detection, monitoring relay contacts and coils, and current sensing.

The Agilent HCPL-0370 features an input buffer IC, which provides control of threshold level by varying a single external resistor.

The input buffer incorporates hysteresis for noise immunity, a diode bridge, and clamping diodes to protect the buffer and LED from overvoltage and overcurrent transients.

The Agilent HCPL-0370 is available now through Agilent's direct sales channel and worldwide distribution partners.
