Colour management system up for award

The HDJD-JB01-8831A illumination and colour management system for backlighting LCD flat-panel TVs has been named one of EDN's Hot 100 Products of 2005.
The ICM system works with red, green and blue LEDs, such as Luxeon LEDs.
The Envisium Power PLCC-4 (plastic leaded chip carrier), jointly developed by Agilent and Lumileds Lighting, is a surface-mount (SMT) LED that is primarily for automotive exterior lighting, such as centre high-mounted stoplights, front turn signals, rear combination turn, tail and stoplights, and mirror turn signals.
The two products are among seven other finalists in the Interconnect, Passive and Electromechanical Components category.
"We are excited that our innovative products are finalists for an Ultimate Products award", said Lee Soo Ghee, Vice President and General Manager for the Optoelectronic Products Division in Agilent's Semiconductor Products Group.
"The HDJD-JB01 gives LCD TV displays a better picture with brighter, sharper and clearer images and a more natural colour tone".
"And the Envisium Power PLCC-4 LEDs offer the best specification in the industry and the highest luminous output".

The Ultimate Products award is a product peer-review programme developed by EE Times and eeProductcentre.
Each quarter the editors of eeProductcentre select the 10 most significant new products in seven categories.
Those products are then rated by engineers in the field.
Ratings are based on technical significance and how likely the engineer would use the product.
