A cost-efficient high-linearity silicon bipolar Darlington amplifier comes in a low thermal resistance SOT-89 package for use up to 2.5GHz.

Avago Technologies has announced the ADA-4789, a cost-efficient, high linearity silicon bipolar Darlington amplifier in a low thermal resistance SOT-89 package for use up to 2.5GHz.

The ADA-4789's unconditional stability and broad bandwidth performance make it ideal for IF (intermediate frequency) amplifier and predriver amplifier applications in cellular basestations, as well as IF amplifiers in direct broadcast satellite and cable television infrastructures.

Additionally, the internal 50ohm matching circuitry simplifies design and provides shorter time to market.

The ADA-4789 is the latest addition to Avago's proven family of silicon bipolar Darlington amplifiers.

With a power budget of 3.8V/60mA, the ADA-4789 delivers 32.6dBm of OIP3 (linearity), 17.1dBm of output power, 16.5dB of gain and 4.2dB of noise figure at 900MHz; at 2GHz it provides 28.8dBm of OIP3, 16.2dBm of output power and 4.4dB of noise figure.

For a higher power budget of 4.1V/80mA, the ADA-4789 is able to boost the performance to 33.2dBm of OIP3, 18.8dBm of output power, 16.9dB of gain and 4.2dB of noise figure at 900MHz.

Samples and production quantities are available through Avago's worldwide distribution partners.
