Hot-pluggable transceiver for Fibre Channel
Agilent Technologies has announced volume availability of its 2Gbit/s small-form-pluggable (SFP) fibre-optic transceiver for Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs).
With a long, active history in setting industry specifications for optical standards and form factors, Avago's new single-mode AFCT-57R5APZ (4km reach) and AFCT-57R5ATPZ (10 km reach) modules are the latest additions to the company's broad portfolio of storage transceivers.
These product offerings cement Avago's position as a leading storage optics provider with a full range of products from Escon to 2 and 4Gbit single-mode and multimode components.
"Customers can trust Avago to deliver world-class optical components that best meet their product needs", said Adam Carter, Director of Marketing for Avago Technologies' Fibre Optics Products Division.
"Our leadership in industry standards will continue to play a key role as our products evolve to higher datarates such as 8G and 10G".
According to RHK, a 55% compound annual growth rate is expected for the 4Gbit long reach optics market by 2010.
The demand for 4Gbit/s storage products continues to grow as enterprises and service providers address growing network demands.
The AFCT-57R5APZ and AFCT-57R5ATPZ transceivers are compliant with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) FC-PI-2 physical layer standards, and support Fibre Channel applications at 1, 2 and 4Gbit/s datarates.
Both products are compatible with IEEE802.3 and feature integrated diagnostic monitoring interface (DMI) capabilities.
Additionally, superior device performance characteristics enable lower manufacturing costs and testing requirements.
Avago's AFCT-57R5APZ is available now.
The AFCT-57R5ATPZ is available through limited distribution and will be generally available in October 2006. Request a free brochure from Avago Technologies ...
