LED modules boast powerful colours
High-power LED modules target customers who want an easy to use lighting solution that has the ability to display a variety of colours.
Electronica 2006 will see Avago Technologies introduce a pair of high-performance, 24W RGB LED modules for a wide range of decorative, architectural and specialty lighting applications (Hall A4, Booth 243) These new high-power LED modules, which are the first in the industry to provide up to 480 lumens of light output, target customers who want an easy to use lighting solution that has the ability to display a variety of colours

Hot-pluggable transceiver for Fibre Channel
Agilent Technologies has announced volume availability of its 2Gbit/s small-form-pluggable (SFP) fibre-optic transceiver for Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs).
Avago's ADJD-MJ50 (emitting light from the top) and ADJD-MJ60 (emitting light from the side) LED modules are compact and can be stacked vertically or horizontally to produce any required light output.
They are an excellent choice for designers of interior and exterior architectural lighting, such as cove lighting, wall-washing, down lighting and exterior facade lighting.
These RGB LED modules are also an ideal light source for use with the Avago's patented colour management solution because they allow the end user to set and maintain a consistent colour point throughout the life of the lighting device.

Moreover, these LED modules provide a new degree of performance and flexibility for specialty applications such as mood lighting, task lighting and track lights.
The combination of brightness and reliability makes the LED modules an extremely flexible solution for backlighting advertising and other signs.
Lighting fixture designers, sign manufacturers and architects are increasingly turning to the combination of performance, safe low-voltage wiring, and remarkable longevity provided by solid-state lighting.
These applications require the combination of high light output and the efficient dissipation of heat generated by the LED light sources.
Avago's new RGB LED modules have been optimised for a wide variety of lighting and illumination applications, are price competitive, and highly reliable.
Today's RGB LED lighting assemblies often combine a number of separate high-power LEDs assembled and wired by the lighting fixture manufacturer.
Avago's solution is a ready-to-use integrated solid-state light source enclosed in a compact, easy-to-mount metal case equipped with an integrated power connector designed to easily interface with a heatsink.
This greatly simplifies the manufacture of lighting fixtures, and help to reduce production time and cost by eliminating the need for a second level assembly process and investment in expensive assembly equipment.
Avago's ADJD-MJ50 and ADJD-MJ60 are rated for up to 480 lumen of continuous light output when all of the red, blue and green emitters are driven with their rated current at 100% duty cycle (approximately 310 lumen when adjusted for white output with 9000K colour temperature).
The built-in heatsink (thermal resistance between the LED junctions and case bottom is only 2C/W) and mechanical mounting features provide efficient heat transfer from the LEDs to the lighting fixture.
This allows the LEDs to operate at high drive currents (up to 750mA total) while minimising junction temperatures, and simplifies thermal management of a lighting fixture design.
The LED chips are silicone-encapsulated for extra long life, and the chips are mounted in a reflector cavity providing a smooth elliptical radiation pattern.
The combination of optimised optical design with closely-spaced emitters maximises light extraction for highest efficiency and premixes the light from the red, green and blue chips to produce uniform colour throughout the radiation pattern.
This feature eliminates the need for the designer to provide additional light mixing optics.
