Advance-Galatrek has a range of bespoke power protection solutions for a variety of retail environments Because even a brief interruption in the power supply would have catastrophic results for many retailers, use of power protection devices is strongly recommended in all such circumstances

Protected power on show at Networks Telecom
Advance-Galatrek is showcasing several brand new product ranges on Stand 20C93 at this year's Networks Telecom exhibition.
Lightning and transient zone protection in one
Advance-Galatrek has launched a new range of transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSSs), with devices optimised for a variety of applications.
In fact, the retail sector is often more at risk from poor mains power quality, than from actual power interruptions.
For retailers relying on the transmission of data between POS terminals and back office file servers, filtering should be included to protect the 'earth return'.
Without the benefit of this protection, pollution from spikes and electrical noise could cause severe problems with critical computer systems.

Wall-mounted transient protection units
Advance-Galatrek has launched a new range of StrikeSafe wall-mounted transient protection units (TPUs), using hardwired DIN rail modules for compact convenient transient surge suppression.
Plug-in hot swap TVSS technology on new TPUs
Advance-Galatrek has just unveiled its latest StrikeSafe wall mount Transient Protection Units (TPUs), featuring unique hot-swap plug-in technology.
Easy reference to surge suppression
Power quality management specialist Advance-Galatrek has published a new brochure detailing its full range of StrikeSafe transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS).
For protecting mission critical data and comms equipment from more severe spikes and surges such as lightning, Advance-Galatrek recommends using dedicated transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS) devices.
Similarly, POS terminal data errors and equipment crashes can be minimised by using power conditioners in the supply.
For circumstances where POS terminals need to be kept running during mains interruptions, Advance-Galatrek has devised a series of line interactive UPS devices.
Capable of providing a pure sine wave output from a mains input, and with the option of either a sine wave or step sine wave output from the battery itself, these units also feature automatic mains voltage stabilisation, boosting the UPS output voltage when the mains supply sags, and reducing it in the eventuality of surges.
The Advance-Galatrek Elite range of wall-mounted on-line UPSs is ideal for POS and front office applications, where space can often be at a premium.
The Advance-Galatrek range of fit and forget power conditioners gives users the option of selecting low impedance or ferroresonant transformers, depending on the features required.
Both models use galvanic isolation to provide a physical barrier between the mains and the protected hardware, so that no spike or electrical noise can penetrate.
In addition, both feature high spike and noise attenuation for maximum load protection.
The ferroresonant transformers also feature automatic mains voltage stabilisation, for the ultimate protection against sags, surges and brownouts in the supply voltage.
Critical file servers, telecommunications and security systems would also benefit from on-line protection, as well as longer duration runtimes.
The Advance-Galatrek Elite range of on-line double-conversion UPS devices features automatic system bypass, to protect the load from UPS failure, together with the option of a 'hot swap' battery extension pack, allowing servicing to be undertaken whilst still online.
These devices are designed to provide a zero transfer time supply, and use a process whereby the mains AC is converted into two levels of DC, one of which feeds the inverter, while the other charges the UPS battery.
Alternatively, a large central back room UPS can be used to provide an enterprise-wide secure power network.
The rugged yet compact MasterElite units are designed to provide flexible power protection for complete voice and data networks, and are ideal for installation in centralised computer or comms rooms.
Each model in the range is designed for low maintenance, and features built-in communications ports for integration with the Advance-Galatrek PowerShield UPS monitoring and shutdown software.
