The AHA4525A-040 turbo product code encoder/decoder device supports all the block turbo code options available in the single carrier, OFDM and OFDMA portions of the IEEE802.16a standard.

The AHA4525A-040 turbo product code encoder/decoder device supports all the block turbo code options available in the single carrier, OFDM and OFDMA portions of the IEEE802.16a standard.

Features include 50Mbit/s encoded rate and 40Mbit/s datarate for (64,57)2 code with three iterations, half duplex or full duplex encoding/decoding, and on chip PLL with separate I/O clock inputs.

TPC performance evaluation software is available.

The package is a 64-pin TQFP.

The AHA4525 is a turbo product code (TPC) forward error correction (FEC) encoder/decoder ASIC integrating separate encoder and decoder functions for full duplex or half duplex system architectures.

TPCs are also referred to as block turbo codes (BTCs) in the 802.16a standard and are necessary for noisy application environments where higher performance FEC is required.

Coding gain in a typical system is very substantial when compared to a Reed Solomon-Viterbi concatenated solution.

The compact size and cost make this device ideal for high volume consumer applications.
