Comtech AHA returns to its roots in Moscow
Comtech AHA Corp is moving from its current location in Pullman, Washington, to a new facility in Moscow, Idaho.
Comtech AHA Corp is moving from its current location in Pullman, Washington, to a new facility in Moscow, Idaho.
AHA was originally founded at the University of Idaho in 1988 in Moscow, Idaho, but moved to Pullman, Washington, when the company experienced rapid growth in the early 1990s and could not find a suitable location in Moscow.
AHA occupied two buildings in Pullman, but outgrew the buildings and needed to find a larger space to accommodate all of the employees in one facility.
After reviewing options in both Pullman and Moscow, a competitive offer came in to build AHA a new facility in Moscow.
The City of Moscow sponsored a Rural Community Development Grant with the support of the Clearwater Economic Development Association (CEDA) and the Latah Economic Development Council (LEDC) to construct the new facility for AHA in the Alturas Research and Technology Park.
Other companies located in the technology park include Siemens, Anatek Labs, Invensys and Alturas Analytics.
Construction began on the new facility in September 2004 and was completed in February 2005.
The new facility offers ample space for engineering development, lab work, meetings and video/teleconference calls.
To support the technology needs of the company, the new building is equipped with a state-of-the-art working environment backed up by fibre optic cable and a sophisticated telecommunications infrastructure.
The combination of industrial elements, natural elements, such as exposed wood beams, and warm, natural colours throughout the exterior and interior creates a comfortable, but professional environment for the employees.
Located in North Central Idaho's panhandle, Moscow is located between Moscow Mountain and the beautiful rolling hills of the Palouse and is only eight miles away from AHA's previous location in Pullman, Washington.
With a mild climate, clean air, highly rated schools and a low crime rate, Moscow attracts a diverse group of residents and visitors.
"In considering locations for our facility, the quality of life in Idaho was a big draw: " said Bill Thomson, President of Comtech AHA Corporation.
"However, as a technology company, it was important that we also be in close proximity to two great universities such as the University of Idaho and Washington State University".
"As our company grows, we plan to continue to draw on graduates of both universities for our future employees".
