Aries Electronics has expanded its line of Correct-A-Chip adapters that allow new SSOP devices to be used on boards designed for older SOWIC packages, without board rework or redesign.

The adapters are now available in a new 28-pin version.

The SSOP-to-SOWIC adapters are also available in a 20-pin version, with other popular pin counts, including 14-, 16- and 24-pin versions, currently under development.

The 0.65 mm pitch SSOP package can be either hand-soldered or attached by standard SMT soldering techniques on the adapter's topside.

The completed subassembly can then be pick-and-placed and reflow soldered to the target PCB using the same methods.

Aries also provides a complete SSOP device-to-adapter mounting service as an alternative to soldering devices individually.

The new Aries Correct-A-Chip adapters have an operating temperature range of -55 to +125C.

Pins are hardened brass alloy with tin-lead plating.

Pricing for a 28-pin SSOP-to-SOWIC adapter starts at $9.00 each in quantities of 100-499.

Delivery is 3-4 weeks ARO.
