Firewire provides robust motion control
Agile Systems is shipping high performance IEEE1394 Firewire interfaces with its MAX 3000 series of integrated multi-axis controller/amplifiers.
Power amplifier simplifies machine control
The latest addition to the DigitalPower Block amplifier family is a 190V, 7A power management component.
Capable of gate drive of both the high and low side of three half bridges, the DPC1-3 also measures and converts the current through two bridges.
The DPC1-3 interfaces to the microprocessor through a serial interface receiving 10bit PWM values and providing digital values of current, temperature, high voltage and short circuit status.
Generation of PWM and current sampling signals on chip simplifies integration of control and power electronics.
The DPC1-3 operates up to 100V and is applicable to three-phase motor and solenoid drive and power conversion applications in multiple markets including portable electronics, industrial, white goods, office, automotive and medical.
In addition, this power IC technology is used as a key element of Agile's digitalPower family of blocks, drives, amplifiers and distributed control products.
Agile's power ICs combine a proprietary CMOS, DMOS process to integrate power devices and low voltage CMOS circuits on the same IC.
Using this capability, Agile is able to combine multiple power interface circuits to reduce size and simplify design by creating a standard digitalPower interface.
The DPC1-3 combines the following subcircuits: 100V high side driver; bootstrap; level shifter; A/D convertor; op amp and comparator; PWM generation; and current sampling.
Samples are available with 4 weeks lead time.
Agile has also released a product databook detailing technical specifications for its power ICs.
