Air Products has been awarded a seven-year contract to supply its ultra-high-purity (UHP) White Ammonia product to Lumileds Lighting, one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-power LEDs.

Air Products has been awarded a seven-year contract to supply its ultra-high-purity (UHP) White Ammonia product to Lumileds Lighting, one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-power LEDs.

As part of the agreement, Air Products will also provide its Gasguard bulk specialty gas delivery system designed specifically for delivering UHP specialty gases.

Air Products has been manufacturing its UHP White Ammonia (99.99996%) product, recognised throughout the industry as an integral component in the production of high-powered LEDs, since 2002.

It is the first commercially available product to achieve a lower than 1ppb moisture specification - essentially eliminating the need for downstream purification.

Air Products' UHP White Ammonia product will be supported at Lumileds Lighting's San Jose, California manufacturing facility by its Gasguard bulk specialty gas system (BSGS).

This comprehensive offering, installed at nearly 200 locations worldwide, allows Air Products to transport large volumes of White Ammonia in specially designed Y and ISO containers in a cost-effective and safe manner.

These unique containers will allow Lumileds Lighting to dispense the product at significantly higher flow rates without compromising purity.

White Ammonia supplied through the BSGS system offers Air Products' customers a lower cost of ownership with consistent purity and less process variability.

"Our ultra-high-purity White Ammonia product gives global customers like Lumileds Lighting a distinct advantage in the growing LED marketplace", says Mike Hilton, Air Products Vice President of Electronics.

"As LEDs begin replacing other, more conventional lighting sources, our White Ammonia offering enables our customers to stay ahead of the production curve".
