Aitech Defense Systems is now offering a single-slot, 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) single board computer (SBC) that provides powerful processing and exceptional functionality in a low-power, compact design.

Aitech Defense Systems, a developer and manufacturer of board and subsystem level products for harsh environment defence, aerospace and space applications, is now offering a rugged, single-slot, 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) single board computer (SBC) that provides powerful processing and exceptional functionality in a low-power, compact design The C900, which accurately self-monitors temperature and controls power dissipation, is ideal for harsh environment applications that require high reliability under extreme operating conditions

Incorporating the low power version of the advanced G4+ MPC7447A/7448 PowerPC microprocessor with a large integrated on-chip L1 and L2 cache, the C900 operates at 1.167GHz at the industry's widest temperature range.

In addition, the new board provides AltiVec support allowing the user to take advantage of the processor's real-time vector processing capabilities.

The board's robust memory capacity includes up to 1GByte fast double datarate SDRAM with ECC protection, 64MByte of user Flash, 32MByte boot Flash, up to 1GByte Flash file (NAND Flash), and 128KByte NVRAM for user/application specific parameter storage.

The non-volatile RAM features a hardware 'autostore' technology that stores NVRAM contents on power fail detection.

Designed around the advanced Marvell's MV64460 Discovery III system controller that integrates both a memory controller and dual PCI/PCI-X bridge operating at up to 133MHz, it may perform as either the cPCI system controller or as a peripheral board.

One of the PCI/PCI-X buses is used internally on the C900 for interconnection with the PMC slot and USB host controller, while the other PCI bus utilises the cPCI backplane interconnection.

When configured as system controller, the C900 is capable of supporting up to six additional cards on the cPCI backplane, providing clock, arbitration and interrupt capabilities.

The C900 integrates several onboard I/O capabilities, including 2Gbit Ethernet ports, two high-speed serial communications ports, two USB 2.0 ports and up to eight general purpose discrete I/O channels (eight single-ended or four RS422 differential channels).

The C900 is also equipped with a PMC slot for additional modules and functionality, further increasing the board's capabilities The rugged board is available in both air- and conduction-cooled versions.
