New line to boost automotive sensor output
AB Electronic installed a new high-speed assembly line for the manufacture of chassis position sensors.
AB Electronic installed a new high-speed assembly line for the manufacture of chassis position sensors.
The highly automated line, incorporating inline vision systems, reflects AB Electronic's success in winning seven multi-million-Euro contracts from OEM and Tier 1 customers, with production starting in May 2004.
The increased demand for the use of electronic throttle control (ETC) systems to meet forthcoming Euro 3 and 4 regulations is driving the demand for pedal position sensors.
The combination of legislative requirements to reduce CO2 emissions, and consumer demand for lower vehicle fuel consumption costs creates a strong market for pedal position sensors which provide vital control information for fuel-efficient engine management control.
The demand has resulted in the systems migrating rapidly from high-end to high-volume vehicles.
The investment in new equipment, which comprises advanced systems from Xenon (Dresden), Pillarhouse and HES, complements AB Electronic's recent major upgrades of the company's existing thick film print and fire capabilities.
In addition, AB Electronic has invested in a number of flexible assembly cells from Phasa Technology.
AB Electronic products are designed to help automakers provide vehicles with enhanced levels of performance, drivability, comfort and economy.
The company's products are used on a wide range of vehicles, from motorcycles, compact city cars through to 4x4 SUV's and luxury saloons.
Phillip Joyce, Deputy Managing Director, AB Electronic comments: "The performance and competitiveness of AB Electronic's range of advanced potentiometer based position sensors has resulted in one of the busiest phases of business growth in recent years".
"The assembly lines provide the ability to manufacture our products to stringent quality levels while remaining competitive in a challenging market".
"Continuing investment in new technology is essential and the new contract wins demonstrates to the automotive industry the commitment from TT Electronics to continuous manufacturing excellence".
