The new SLA5200 Series from Sanken Electric is a 600V, 15A IGBT/FRD array for use in three-phase motor invertors in domestic appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators.

The new SLA5200 Series from Sanken Electric is a 600V, 15A IGBT/FRD array for use in three-phase motor inverters in domestic appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators.

It integrates six IGBTs with low saturation voltage (1.85V typical) and high-speed switching capability (175ns typical) with six soft-recovery FRDs (fast-recovery diodes) in one single-inline power SLA package, with considerable savings in the PCB mounting area and the number of assembly operations.

The transfer-moulded package uses a new resin with better thermal conduction characteristics, and combines small size and low thermal resistance (1.04C/W).

The robust device will withstand short circuits for up to 10us, and the exposed heatsink is isolated electrically.

Sanken power semiconductor products are available in Europe via Allegro MicroSystems Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanken Electric, and its network of distributors.
