The A3946 is a half-bridge power control IC designed specifically for applications that require high-power unidirectional DC motors and other inductive loads.

The A3946 is a half-bridge power control IC designed specifically for applications that require high-power unidirectional DC motors and other inductive loads.

The A3946 incorporates two high-current gate-drive outputs capable of driving a wide range of power N-channel mosfets.

The high-side gate driver switches an N-channel mosfet which controls current to the load, whereas the low-side gate driver switches an N-channel mosfet as a synchronous rectifier.

A bootstrap capacitor is used to provide the voltage (higher than that supplied by the battery) required for the N-channel mosfets.

An internal charge pump for the high side will allow for DC (100% duty cycle) operation of the half bridge.

Overtemperature and undervoltage protection is included, and the device is rated for operation at ambient temperatures between -40 and +125C.

The A3946 is supplied in a 16-lead SOIC with a copper batwing power tab.
