The mechanical system of the AlFibre3000 is based on the Micos SpaceFAB SF-3000 micro-robot system: with one SpaceFAB SF-3000 all six degrees of freedom can be controlled without additional positioning elements.
The low mass of the moving platform allows for highly dynamic and precise positioning, while its compactness provides for steepness, accuracy and reproducibility unavailable with conventional stages.
The SpaceFab SF-3000 is driven by high-precision standard DC stages closed on a 50nm resolution linear encoder feedback.
Two SpaceFAB SF-3000s, one facing the other, form a 12 degrees of freedom system for fibre-to-device-to-fibre, or geometrically equivalent applications.
Any combination of linear/rotational stages for special process or load/unload request can replace the fixed stand.
The alignment mechanics of the AlFibre3000 is mounted on a vibration-isolation breadboard and provides a mechanical resolution of up to 0.01mm.
"Our fibre alignment system is built on an open and flexible architecture that allows the use of standard industry components, specified by our customers.
In addition, we can provide our customers with full control over the source code for their own customisations.
Engineers and manufacturers can benefit from our engineering capabilities and know-how in fibre alignment.
Our approach offers reduced investment risk for our customers and satisfies their continuously changing requirements", said Alfautomazione's President Mauro Arigossi.
