Antenna switch connector uses MMCX
interface
Aliner Industries from Taiwan has introduced the first antenna switch connector using the MMCX interface.
With the granting of 3G licence in China this year, as well as a surge in demands for more wireless mobile electronics including GPS/GSM modules worldwide, Aliner Industries from Taiwan has introduced the first antenna switch connector using the MMCX interface The traditional business model has been for customers who want product differentiation to purchase a unique interface from a specific RF coax manufacturer; on the other hand, those who desire more cost effective and greater interoperability would choose an existing common interface shared by all players in the market

With Aliner's MMCX antenna switch connector P/N25-501A, companies get the best of both worlds.
Thanks to its MMCX interface, the Aliner 25-501A switch connector offers design engineers the same great features of the regular MMCX.
It boasts a minimal board height of 1.60mm, length of 10.8mm and width of 4.40mm.

Aliner's MC Card coax connector range has grown to encompass a complete line of more than a dozen products that are also used outside of their originally intended market.
Wireless connectors go one step further
Aliner reckons its ultraminiature SSMCX connectors go one step further than the norm in wireless applications by assuring user friendliness, durability and shock resistance.
Ultraminiature connectors are handy for antennas
Aliner reckons its MCII antenna connectors go an extra mile assuring overall performance and dimensions satisfy both the designer's and the end users' demands.
Available in PCB/edge mount, this 50ohm connector is in compliance with RoHS requirements, delivering VSWR less than 1.25 up to 3GHz, 1.4 up to 6GHz with an insertion loss of -0.25dB and durability of greater than 3000 mating cycles.
To satisfy the demands of modern production facilities, the Aliner 25-501A MMCX switch connector can be delivered in tray/reel packaging for high volume pick-and-place manufacturing.
"Aliner MMCX switch connector is the result of roaring demands for a high performance 6GHz antenna switch connector, but without having to pay a premium price charged by RF coax makers who promote their own designs", said Daniel Wu, Aliner's Global Strategic Marketing Director.
"As the Wall Mart and Dell experiences told us, a great product must achieve a large enough market share in order to satisfy the manufacturing capacity without eroding the marginal profit".
"This is also true when you look at the manufacturing capability for RF coax connectors has increased fourfold in the last 5 years".
"Why would you pay 70% more when a comparable miniature connector such as 25-501A has backward compatibility, a track record of strong MMCX reliability and at a cost that is decreasing each quarter due to wide acceptance?", said Wu.
Wu concludes: "Increasingly, the pay-more-for-more business model is being highly challenged due to the shorter connector life-cycle, and Aliner reacts by introducing the world's first antenna switch that is nonproprietary for faster/wider market penetration".
As of today, Aliner 25-501A MMCX antenna switch connectors are used by several GPS, RFID, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi OEMs worldwide.
As the first of its kind, the Aliner 25-501A will contribute to the overall market share of MMCX, already ranked the world's third most commonly used connectors in 2004.
Aliner is scheduled to ramp up its mass production for 25-501A in March 2005.
By giving back to those who have supported Aliner, this MMCX switch connector helps to facilitate common standard and product proliferation.
Sample pricing starts at $0.97 per order with MOQ of 100 pieces.
Standard mass production delivery is 2-3 weeks for 100,000 units.
