Measuring just 60 x 40 x 10mm and weighing 35g, the compact form factor means that the MOD170 and MOD190 can be readily integrated in many industrial devices.
The only difference between the MOD170 and the MOD190 is that the MOD190 offers voice support.
Other features of the two modems include: GPRS class 8 (4+1) with PBCCH support; MMCX antenna connector and internal 3V SIM card reader; 60-pin connector including RS232 serial link; remote control by AT commands; internal 3V SIM card reader; power supply 5V (+/- 5%); Internet connectivity; and call logging system.
Papakyriacou concludes: "GPRS is rapidly becoming a global standard for sending and receiving high-speed data across the GSM network".
