Alpha Micro Components now offers Sagem's next-generation MO200 and MO200A range of GSM/GPRS modem modules Aimed specifically at the machine-to-machine (M2M) market, Sagem's new module supersedes the existing MO170 and MO190 range of GSM/GPRS modems, but with the extra functionality of the recently launched XS200 modem

By embedding Sagem's new modules into an electronic device it can become GPRS enabled with minimal disruption to the existing product, making it an ideal solution for electronic point of sale terminals and small handheld devices such as wireless chip and PIN units and PDAs.

The two versions of this triband GPRS modem work on a variety of radio frequencies, the MO200 is aimed at the European and Asian markets and the MO200A has been specifically designed for use in North America.

The MO200 is a more integrated device and plugs directly into devices currently using the existing MO170 and MO190 modules, but now comes fully integrated with TCP/IP protocol stacks, allowing instant connection to the networks without the need for additional programming, allowing easy upgrades and the ability to bring products to market quicker.

To provide further assistance in reducing design and implementation timelines, Alpha Micro offers a complete developer programme which includes an OEM integrator kit and technical support for a team of experienced engineers.

The OEM integrator kit includes modem modules, cables, power supply, documentation and accessories required to start integrating with Sagem modem modules.

Christos Papakyriacou, Managing Director, Alpha Micro comments: "Sagem is a leading manufacturer of GSM and GPRS modems".

"This new next-generation module provides excellent value for money allowing electrical devices with the existing MO170 and MO190 to be easily upgraded, helping to extend their shelf life and providing even greater functionality".
