Gregory L Williams has been appointed to the board of directors at AMI Semiconductor.

Gregory L Williams has been appointed to the board of directors at AMI Semiconductor.

Williams is the Executive Chairman of Intersil Corp's board of directors.

Previously, Williams was President and CEO of Intersil.

In that position, he managed Intersil's successful spin off from Harris Corp and also led Intersil's initial public offering (IPO) in February 2000, the largest US semiconductor IPO in history.

Joining Harris Semiconductor in 1998, Williams started the renewal of the company's semiconductor unit, focusing the business on its RF, analogue and power core competencies.

Williams was the president of Harris Semiconductor at the time of its sale to Citicorp Venture Capital in August 1999.

In announcing the appointment, Chris King, President and CEO of AMIS, said: "I am delighted that Greg Williams has agreed to join AMI Semiconductor's board of directors.

Not only does he bring us outstanding leadership in the semiconductor industry, Greg will make significant contributions to the AMIS strategy and will help us build a stronger company.

His combination of knowledge, experience, and leadership makes him a great addition to our board, especially at this point in time in our business".
