AMI Semiconductor (AMIS) has further expanded its mixed-signal semiconductor design and support capabilities with the opening of a new design centre in Sofia, Bulgaria.

AMIS will use the new Sofia Design Centre to develop and support mixed-signal integrated circuits for automotive, industrial and consumer applications.

The engineering team at the centre have many years' experience in the development and implementation of mixed-signal semiconductor devices, including specific expertise in the field of integrated sensors.

Nelly Pergoot has been appointed to act as both the Manager of the Design Centre and the Managing Director of AMI Semiconductor Bulgaria.

Previously the AMIS Quality Director for Europe, Pergoot holds an MS degree in physics and has been involved in the electronics sector for 15 years.

Prior to joining AMIS, she held senior engineering roles at Alcatel Microelectronics and Mietec.

Discussing the opening of the Sofia Design Centre, Pergoot comments: "The expansion of AMI Semiconductor's mixed-signal engineering capabilities further supports the growth that we are experiencing in worldwide mixed-signal ASIC and ASSP markets".

"The combination of existing and proven local expertise, the excellent academic facilities, and the strength of the Bulgarian economy, made Sofia an ideal choice for further investment in our global mixed-signal engineering capabilities".
