Transceivers are fit for fieldbus
protocols
A fieldbus media attachment unit IC meets the specifications of the IEC61158-2, H1, and EN 50170 physical layer standard, including Foundation Fieldbus H1 and Profibus PA protocols.
New from AMI Semiconductor, the AMIS-49200 fieldbus media attachment unit (MAU) meets the specifications of the IEC-61158-2, H1 (ISA-SP50.02-1992), and EN 50170 physical layer standard, including Foundation Fieldbus H1 and Profibus PA protocols The AMIS-49200 is the latest addition to AMI Semiconductor's line of process automation transceivers for use in safety critical applications such as oil refineries, chemical processing and water treatment plants

Clock generators for embedded communications
AMI Semiconductor (AMIS) has expanded its clock generator product line with a broad family of low-cost 1- and 2-phase-lock loop (PLL) clock ICs.
Clock generator saves space in portable designs
AMI Semiconductor (AMIS) has introduced a low-cost clock generator that will save space and reduce component count in high-performance MPEG-2 applications such as DVD players.
The device is a physical interface between the bus wiring and the actual measurement device targeting industrial process automation applications, specifically Foundation Fieldbus H1 devices Type 111 and Type 112 per Foundation Fieldbus Specification FF-816 (31.25Kbit/s physical layer profile).
Foundation Fieldbus is an all-digital, two-way communications system intended for use in intrinsically safe sensor-to-computer applications where distribution and transfer of data, integrity of control loops and the ability to integrate dissimilar control systems are essential.
Typical applications include closed-loop continuous control, batch sequencing, high-speed process automation, information integration, recipe management, data gathering, legacy system integration, and network integration.
"The process automation market is moving from analogue to digital bus communication and has seen significant volume growth for this type of device", said Ramesh Ramchandani, Vice President and General Manager of the Mixed-Signal ASSP Division at AMIS.
"AMIS offers a portfolio of transceiver products for standards like LIN, CAN and Hart and offers the only replacement on the market for the Yokagawa mSAA22Q".
"AMIS has a long history of supplying the process automation market with ICs such as the A5191HRT modem".
In most applications, the AMIS-49200 Fieldbus MAU can be used as a pin-for-pin replacement for the Yokagawa mSAA22Q, which is no longer in production.
The AMIS-49200 is currently available at a price of $9.38 per 1000 units.
