The Powershield is a new range of local power and backup solutions for broadband installations.
The Powershield is a new range of local power and backup solutions for broadband installations.
This product range is ideal for multiple tenant units (MTU), small and medium sized businesses and high-end home users.
APC's PowerShield provides local power, battery backup and surge protection for customer premise equipment (CPE) of hybrid fibre coax, fibre to the home (FTTH), digital subscriber loop (DSL) and fixed wireless local loop (FWLL) networks.
PowerShield serves as the primary power supply for telephone communication ports, as well as a local powering source for the CPE.
"As providers continue to roll out bundled voice, video, and data services including primary line service they must provide reliable battery backup power for telephone lines through network and local powering provisions", said Michael Adams, UK Country Manager.
"APC's PowerShield offers equipment manufacturers and providers of DSL, FTTH, FWLL and cable telephony services an inexpensive, easy to use and install, local power solution that will keep their customers up and running".
APC's PowerShield products provide battery backup runtime for up to 24 analogue voice ports.
The devices, which offers batteries with up to 4-6 year average life span, also notifies the end user or service provider of the power supply's health and status.
This includes notification if the battery: is in use, signifying an outage; needs replacing; is missing; or is not properly connected.
These communication features provide proactive monitoring and maintenance that help keep the end user up and running during any power disturbance.
In addition, APC offers a user-friendly battery management and recycling program.
Batteries for the PowerShield can easily be replaced and shipped back to APC, saving the service provider valuable time and money for unnecessary service calls.
APC's Powershield is available in 15, 40 and 50W ratings at 48V DC, as well as 24W 12V DC units.
All are available with plug styles to fit in almost any country.
With this broad range of solutions, they are suitable to locally power most cable telephony, wireless local loop (WLL), voice over Internet protocol and voice over digital subscriber line applications.
