Panduit helps with blade deployment
Panduit Corp has joined APC's Blade Ready programme to assist organisations with the planning and deployment of high density blade computing solutions.
Panduit Corporation, a world leader in network and electrical solutions, has joined APC's Blade Ready programme to assist organisations with the planning and deployment of high density blade computing solutions.
The Blade Ready programme unites APC with vendors of complementary data centre infrastructure technologies to deliver comprehensive interoperable products, solutions, and services for blade server environments.
Together, Blade Ready members help enterprises assess, design, procure, stage, implement and interconnect blade servers and related equipment.
Members in this programme include a group of strategic, best-in-class hardware and software vendors that help enable operational excellence and unsurpassed compatibility with blade network environments.
"With blade server technology driving up densities to 30kW per rack when fully populated, companies need easy access to information on how to successfully deploy blades", said Aaron Davis, APC's Chief Marketing Officer.
"The Blade Ready programme offers an assessment of a company's readiness to implement blades and, if appropriate, assists in facilitating the transition to blades resulting in operational excellence in that firm's blade environment".
"Panduit easily meet the stringent requirements of the Blade Ready programme and we are delighted to add this high-caliber company".
"Today's businesses are aware of the many advantages blade technology offers but they may not be aware of the challenges involved in successful deployment of this new technology", said Ron Partridge, Panduit's Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing.
"With these challenges in mind, Panduit applied its expertise and proficient design capabilities to develop a unique cabling management solution specifically for blade servers".
"This proven solution ensures smooth and speedy deployment of blade servers through efficient cable management".
According to industry research firm Gartner, worldwide blade server annual shipments are expected to reach 1.2 million by 2009.
Gartner expects annual shipments of all servers to reach seven million by 2009.
To take advantage of the technology trend, the Blade Ready programme offers a single stop for a wide variety of resources including APC's Blade Readiness Assessment Service, which is a first step in understanding the right approach to these challenges.
Also available are white papers, build out guides, total cost of ownership (TCO) planning guides, and more.
